Sporting Clube de Goa emerge TACA Goa U-20 League champions!

Sporting Clube de Goa emerged champions in the Goa Football Association TACA Goa U-20 League Division One with two games in hand following their 3-1 win over FC Bardez, played at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Wednesday, January 3.

Sporting Clube de Goa managed to grab maximum 18 points in their six outings remaining undefeated in the league so far.

The Panjim outfit were handed an early blow when FC Bardez took the lead in the eighth minute through Englebert D’Souza after dominating the initial minutes of the game.

Down by a goal, Sporting Goa regrouped quickly and didn’t take long to level terms as they equalised through Prasil Kankonkar, after the lad headed in Joston Cardoz’s corner kick.

Sporting Clube de Goa didn’t take the long to net in their second goal through Clive Miranda’s set piece taking a 2-1 lead at the break.

Changing ends, Sporting Clube de Goa carried on from where they had left and dominated over their opponents. Myron Fernandes scored the third for the Flaming Oranje to give his side a two-goal cushion after Mayuresh Naik did the initial spade work as he dribbled past couple of opposition defenders before setting up the Myron to guide home the team’s third. FC Bardez did try their best but couldn’t get past the Sporting Clube de Goa defence.

Sporting Clube de Goa are yet to play their matches against FC Goa and Dempo SC.
