Aiming to bounce back from a disappointing 1-2 defeat against Real Kashmir in Srinagar in their previous game, Sreenidi Deccan FC will host Aizawl FC on Matchday 7 clash of the I-League at the Deccan Arena on Sunday. The Deccan Warriors are second in the standings while the visitors are in sixth place.
Sreenidi Deccan FC head coach Carlos Vaz Pinto and winger Ramhlunchhunga addressed the media ahead of the encounter.
“A defeat does not give anyone confidence. We did not deserve to lose and it could have gone either way in the end,” reflected Vaz Pinto. “We have put that behind us and are focusing on our process and working towards what we believe in.”
Aizawl FC have appointed Caetano Pinho as their new coach and Vaz Pinto acknowledged the dilemma of facing an opponent with a new coach. “It is difficult to predict how much they will change their style of playing and we will need to assess this in the opening minutes of the game,” he said.
Ramhlunchhunga had a successful stint with Aizawl FC, contributing three goals and three assists last season
“I am looking forward to facing my former team and team-mates. They have really good players but we are at home so if we stick to our gameplan, I hope we win,” he said. “Aizawl FC gave me the opportunity to develop my game so I consider them a very important part of my career.”
