Sreenidi Deccan FC will take on Inter Kashi in Matchweek 2 of the I-League 2023-24 season at the Deccan Arena stadium on Friday, November 3. The Deccan Warriors started their campaign with a 4-0 win over NEROCA FC while the visitors battled to a 2-2 draw against Gokulam Kerala in their first ever competitive match.
Sreenidi Deccan FC head coach Carlos Vaz Pinto and captain David Castaneda addressed the media ahead of the game. “We played well against NEROCA but we have to write a new story against Inter Kashi. They are a new club but we know that they have a good coach and good players with a good philosophy and they will have a good season,” said Vaz Pinto.
Despite being a new club, Inter Kashi have signed a raft of experienced players like Peter Hartley, Arindam Bhattacharja, Sumeet Passi and Jackichand Singh while also hiring former India international Arata Izumi as their assistant coach. “We will of course have a plan for Inter Kashi but our focus as always, will be on our methodology and game model,” said Vaz Pinto. “We are a team which always tries to dominate and control the game and we will try to do the same in this match as well.”
David Castaneda finished with 15 goals in the I-League last season and has already started with a bang – scoring twice against NEROCA FC and he will be up against Hartley who will be manning the Inter Kashi defence. “Individual battles do tend to decide games but we will try to win together as a team. He (Hartley) has a lot of experience from his time in the Indian Super League but we will compete for everything and try to get the three points.”
The match will kick off at 4:30pm IST and will be telecast live on Eurosport India, the Indian Football YouTube channel and the FanCode App.
