Having suffered a shock 1-2 defeat against Mumbai Kenkre FC last time out, Sreenidi Deccan FC aim to get back to winning ways as they face NEROCA FC in a Matchday 14 I-League clash here at the Deccan Arena on Sunday. The Manipur-based side are currently 10th in the standings but are unbeaten in their last three games.
Head Coach Carlos Vaz Pinto and winger Rosenberg Gabriel addressed the media ahead of the match. “We are not happy with the result in the previous match but we have an opportunity to get the three points tomorrow so we are preparing for that,” said Vaz Pinto.
Gabriel echoed his coach’s sentiments by adding, “We have been performing well this season. Although the result went against us in the previous game, we created a lot of chances and we have to make sure we do not lose focus.”
NEROCA FC won their last two games to give themselves a boost in the relegation battle and Vaz Pinto believes playing an in-form team will be beneficial for his side. “We know they are a good team and despite having beaten them earlier in the season, we expect a slightly different game as they have added some new players,” he said. “Regardless, we will give our 100 per cent.”
Gabriel is having a breakout season, having provided 5 assists (top most in the I-League this season) but he believes there is still room for improvement. “I have to score more goals and also try and assist more for my team-mates,” he concluded.
