Sri Lanka’s Jayasuriya named Delhi’s STAIRS School Football League ambassador!

STAIRSNGO STAIRS has named former Sri Lankan cricket captain Sanath Jayasuriya as the brand ambassador of the third edition of the STAIRS School Football League (SSFL), which kicks off on October 19 in New Delhi.

STAIRS (Society For Transformation, Inclusion and Recognition through Sports) is a not-for-profit organisation working towards sports, education, health and skill development of children across India.

Commenting on his association with the SSFL, Jayasuriya said: “As a sportsperson, I understand the importance of involving children in sports and the need for strengthening of sports at the grassroots level. I am happy to be a part of the initiative undertaken by STAIRS as I have first hand witnessed the great work they are doing last year and I really feel that there is no better way to improve this world.”

“It is great to know that this year’s SSFL shall see the largest ever participation of school children and I wish STAIRS team all the best.”

STAIRS founder and secretary general Siddhartha Upadhyay said: “Sanath Jayasuriya along with his team members turned around the way cricket is being played, they bought glory to their country and this was only possible because of a strong system they had created.”

“We are happy to have Sanath Jayasuriya as a brand ambassador as we feel that we have a lot to learn from a sportsman of his calibre and passion,” Siddhartha Upadhyay added.
