Sultan Ahmed Memorial U-14 Football Tournament kicks-off at Mohammedan Sporting ground!

The Mohammedan Youth Development Project XI beat East Bengal Club 5-4 on penalties in the opener of the inaugural Sultan Ahmed Memorial U-14 Football Tournament on Saturday at the Mohammedan Sporting ground in Kolkata.

However, the Tournament Organising Committee found that YDP XI were playing with some overage players therefore the match was awarded to East Bengal and YDP XI was disqualified.

Through this decision the Tournament Organising Committee sent an message that there is zero tolerance for age fraud and they won’t spare anyone even if it is their own team.

Meanwhile, later in the day Bhowanipore Club beat HDSA 3-0 also on penalties followed by a match between Mohun Bagan AC and Gangadharpur Academy which Mohun Bagan won 4-0.

The match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and United Bengal Football Academy rounded off the day with the Young Panthers winning 3-0.

Tomorrow East Bengal Club will take on Mohun Bagan AC in the first semifinal at 9am followed by the second semifinal between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Bhowanipore Club at 10:30am.

UPDATE: East Bengal U-14s have pulled out of the tournament for an unknown reason. They will be replaced by the Mohammedan Youth Development Project XI without the players found overage.
