Sumit Das told Raghu Nandi pre-match he would score for Mohammedan Sporting!

“I am happy with the result,” Raghunath Nandi commented on Saturday’s 1-0 win over Rainbow AC. “The win will boost our confidence for the rest of the campaign.”

Mohammedan Sporting technical director admitted that, “Our game was a bit scrappy, especially in the first-half. That was also because Rainbow didn’t allow us to play in the midfield. We did better in the second-half when there was more rhythm to our game.”

The Black Panthers are in third position on the Calcutta Football League – Premier Division ‘A’ log, having collected six points from three matches.

It had been a tough week for the club after a 0-1 loss to Aryan Club. Nandi was visibly relieved after the victory over Rainbow AC. “We must now get rid of our emotions and get our confidence back.”

Substitute Sumit Das scored the winner in the 75th minute. “I am happy for Sumit. During the break he told me, Sir send me in I would score,” the Nandi commented on the winger’s goal. He was also selected as the Man of the Match after a fine performance.

“We needed to stay focussed after our goal,” Nandi added, “As their striker, Joel Sunday is always a handful and he can hurt you. But we kept our concentration in defence.”

Nandi also commented on Nigerian striker Princewill Emeka, who again failed to get on the score-sheet despite getting some easy chances, “Mohammedan SC are a different club from the clubs Prince previously played for. But we are patient, the talent is there and we see glimpses of his brilliance and intelligence. He will come right.”
