For the third time, the DFL organised the trade fair for future technologies in sport together with venue operator and event specialist D.LIVE and sports business conference organiser Spielmacher.
More than 2000 international guests accepted the invitation to the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA in Düsseldorf to experience and discuss the latest trends and technologies in the areas of Broadcast & Content, Fan Experience & Stadium and Sports Performance & Technology.
The core element of SportsInnovation was once again the Innovation Games. The DFL, its partners and some of the around 60 exhibitors at the event demonstrated the latest camera technologies, remote production, mixed reality applications and next-generation data collection live on the pitch. The overarching theme: opportunities through generative AI. In line with this, the DFL and Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced an expansion of their partnership, which will also see AWS become the Official Generative AI Provider of the DFL and its leagues.
Besides the three innovation games in football, an innovation game in American football also took place for the first time. The NFL presented innovations in the areas of referee communication and automated tracking. The pitch at the Düsseldorf stadium was reconfigured especially for this event.
In addition, a high-quality conference programme took place on two stages. An overview of the 110 international and national speakers and their topics can be found on the SportsInnovation 2024 website.
The unique selling point of the event – innovations you can experience and touch – was also fully realised in the exhibition area: for the first time, visitors were able to test the latest technologies and ideas from exhibiting companies live in the “Innovation Lab”.
