The 2023/24 LaLiga season calendar draw will take place on June 22!

The draw for the 2023/24 season calendar for the top division of LaLiga will take place on Thursday, June 22 at 12:00 midday (CEST) at the headquarters of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). The season calendar for the second division will be published on Wednesday, June 28.

As has been the case since the 2019/20 season, the LaLiga calendar is asymmetric in nature: matchday fixtures during the first half of the season are not played in the same order during the second half of the season. For example, Matchday 1 and Matchday 20 will not necessarily feature the same encounters.

The primary objective of an asymmetric calendar is to guarantee a series of considerations affecting security, European fixtures, clubs, building works, and national and regional holidays, and to maximise both stadium attendances and television audiences. With all these considerations in mind, 99,999 different calendar permutations are generated, and one is chosen by draw.

The top division of LaLiga, the official name of which will be revealed on 3rd July in line with the league’s change of title sponsor, consists of 38 matchdays and 380 matches. The second division calendar will be revealed on Wednesday, June 28 once the four new clubs promoted from Primera RFEF (Spain’s third tier) are confirmed.

Key dates in the calendar

The 2023/24 LaLiga season will kick-off across both divisions on Friday, August 11. The first division will end on Sunday, May 26; the second division on Sunday, June 2.

The second division play-offs for promotion to the first division will take place between the 9th and 23rd June.
