UEFA Women’s EURO 2022: pre-sale ticket targets smashed!

More than 140,000 tickets have already been sold for UEFA Women’s EURO 2022, which takes place in England next summer, with next Monday, August 9 marking the final opportunity for fans to secure pre-sale tickets for the tournament.

Supporters around the world are already gearing up for another huge month of football, with record numbers of advance tickets sold almost a year before the event kicks off on 6 July next year.

The Women’s EURO will be the marquee event of the summer, taking place at 10 stadiums in nine English cities – including Old Trafford, venue for the opening match, and Wembley Stadium, where already 53,000 tickets have been sold for the final on July 31.

Supporters from 68 countries (47% female) have already purchased tickets for one or more of the 31 matches, with the last chance to guarantee a spot at the match of your choice coming this Monday.

The tournament, which will be the biggest women’s European sport event ever, will have over 700,000 tickets available across the ten venues, with prices ranging from £5 to £50.

Nadine Kessler, UEFA chief of women’s football, said, “We are incredibly excited by the response of fans to the Women’s EURO 2022 ticket pre-sale presented by our dedicated partner, VISA.”

“With interest coming from fans across the globe it shows how European women’s football is of international significance. These numbers a year out are unheard of in women’s sport in Europe and it is just the start – I encourage everyone to get their tickets now and help us make the Women’s EURO to not only be a record-breaking event but a sell-out event!”

“We cannot wait to have full stadia and fans showing their hearts for our European heroes.”

2019/20 UEFA Women’s Player of the Year and Denmark forward, Pernille Harder, said, “It’s fantastic to see such a huge interest in the UEFA Women’s EURO at this early stage. It’s really exciting that so many fans are showing their support by buying tickets, and all before the draw has even taken place.”

“Women’s football has accelerated over the last few years with more and more world-class talented players emerging across Europe. The calibre of play across the nations is getting stronger every year, so it will be really exciting to see all these top players compete against each other in England next summer – and have our supporters right there with us.”

“The UEFA Women’s EURO is bigger than just the games. We are a community of fans first and foremost, and we want nothing more than to inspire a new generation of football fanatics and encourage more girls and boys to fulfil their dreams of competing on the global stage.”

What happens after the pre-sale window closes?

Following the pre-sale, the next opportunity to purchase tickets will be in the public ballot application window which goes live following the tournament draw on 28 October. Tickets will then go on general sale on a first come, first served basis from mid-February 2022.

The tournament is expected to be the first international football tournament to host full capacity stadiums, however a robust refund policy will be in place if fixtures are postponed, cancelled, have reduced capacity or a change of venue is introduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A ticket resale platform will be available in 2022 for ticket holders to use and re-sell their tickets at face value, with more information to be made available in the coming months.
