Uttar Pradesh has their first-ever professional football club in Inter Kashi, which was launched yesterday in Varanasi.
Inter Kashi has been launched by YMS Finance Pvt Ltd in partnership with Spanish LaLiga giants Atletico de Madrid, Andorra-based Inter Escaldes, and Gerard Piqué owned FC Andorra.
The new club has bid to compete from September 2023 in the second tier of Indian football, the I-League, while it is already drawing up the first team squad.
Atletico Madrid club will contribute its long experience in the world of football in the start-up of this new club, both in the sporting part of the first team and in the development of grassroots football with the creation of the Atlético de Bharat Academy, since the talents from this state must look to other areas of the country for their football development as there is no club at the national level.
The Inter Kashi coaching staff will be led by Carlos Santamarina, who has been working in India for four years as head of the project that the Atletico Madrid Academy signed with the TATA Group as part of the Tata Football Academy and then ISL side Jamshedpur FC.
