VfL Bochum extend Paul Grave contract, loan him to Wuppertaler SV!

VfL Bochum 1848 has extended its long-term contract with Paul Grave, which would have expired in the summer, by a further two years until June 30, 2025. The 22-year-old goalkeeper has been part of the professional squad since 2019 and is now ready to gain match practice in men’s football. For this reason, Grave will be loaned to the current fourth division (Regionalliga) side Wuppertaler SV for the new season.

Paul Grave was a member of our academy from 2014 to 2020 and was awarded the Werner Altegoer Medal in 2018. For the young goalkeeper, the move to the Bergische is a chance to show his skills in the professional field.

“Paul Grave is a very talented goalkeeper who, after setbacks due to injury, has returned to our team of goalkeepers with great effort,” says Marc Lettau, technical director of VfL Bochum 1848. “We are still convinced of his potential. But, it is necessary to get him match practice in order to fully develop his talent. The move to Wuppertal should help him in his development.”

“I am very happy that VfL want to continue on this path with me. After the injuries last season, I feel fit again and I’m at 100 percent. I hope that I can gain match practice at Wuppertaler SV so that I can return to VfL a better player,” says Paul Grave.
