VfL Bochum & Jubilo Iwata announce cooperation!

In November 2023, a delegation from VfL Bochum 1848 travelled to Japan for the first time to visit new and existing partner companies and conclude business cooperation’s as part of its internationalisation strategy. As a next step, the Blue and Whites have now agreed a cooperation with Japanese J1 League club Jubilo Iwata.

The signing ceremony took place today on Saturday, March 23 in Iwata and the contract will initially run for one year.

“We are very pleased about the partnership and look forward to the exchanges with Júbilo Iwata – both on a sporting, entrepreneurial and cultural level,” says Tim Jost, Director of Marketing and Sales and Member of the Executive Board at VfL Bochum 1848. The cooperation includes a potential exchange of players and employees as well as knowledge transfer at various levels.

Yukimitsu Hamaura, President and CEO of Júbilo Iwata, added, “VfL Bochum is a club with a long tradition. With the help of this partnership, we would like to contribute to the fact that both clubs can grow through the exchanges.”

The new cooperation partner also appreciates VfL’s great past with Japanese players, not least Takuma Asano, a current Japan international, who wears the blue and white jersey. “We hope to learn from the club’s history,” said Toshiba Fujita, Júbilo Iwata’s sporting director. “VfL is at a higher level as a European club. Through this partnership, we would like to approach this on a holistic level.”
