Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg unveiled their new home and away kits by Nike during a function at the Volkswagen Autostadt today. The event was attended by the men’s first team squad, besides Joelle Wedemeyer and Katharina Baunach who represented the clubs women’s team.
The Wolves go into the new 2018/19 Bundesliga season in a rich, dark green home outfit, which features a stylised “X” in a lighted green tone. The light green tone hints at the classic Wolfsburg jerseys the club donned during their Bundesliga-winning 2008/09 season. The “X” also indicates the Roman numeral for 10 – in recognition of next year being the tenth anniversary of the Wolves championship success.
The city coat of arms is embroidered to the collar to underline the close bond between the club and the city of Wolfsburg.
The VfL Wolfsburg Women’s team, one of the best Women’s teams in the world and four-time Women’s Bundesliga champions, will have the honour to feature a commemorative star on their edition of the new kits. Commemorative stars are awarded to teams that have reached set landmarks of three, five, 10 and 20 league titles.
