VfL Wolfsburg Women extend captain Svenja Huth’s contract!

Another key member of the VfL Wolfsburg Women squad has committed her future to the club. Midfielder and captain Svenja Huth, whose previous deal was due to expire this summer, has signed a one-year contract extension with the She-Wolves.

Huth joined VfL from 1.FFC Turbine Potsdam ahead of the 2019/2020 season. She has since appeared in 90 Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga games, 19 DFB Cup ties and 34 UEFA Women’s Champions League encounters, scoring 25 goals in total. The 33-year-old has won two Bundesliga titles and four DFB Cups during her time with the She-Wolves, as well as winning 88 caps for the German national team before announcing her retirement last month.

Huth is now looking forward to continuing her career in Wolfsburg. “The overall package is just right for me here,” she said. “I feel very happy, both in sporting terms and in my private life with my family. Over the years, Wolfsburg has become a second home to me. That’s why I’m looking forward to another year in which I want to continue to play my part in achieving our goals together with the team and the fans.”

Ralf Kellermann, director of women’s football at VfL Wolfsburg, is delighted Huth has decided to extend her deal. “Svenja has been performing consistently at a top level for years,” he said. “She’s an integral part of our game and has proven that once again in recent weeks. As captain and leader, she exemplifies the mentality that sets VfL apart on and off the pitch.”
