Willis Plaza scores hattrick in East Bengal’s 5-0 win over Tollygunge Agragami!

Defending champions East Bengal Club scored an impressive 5-0 win against Tollygunge Agragami in the Calcutta Football League – Premier Division ‘A’ at the clubs own East Bengal ground on Tuesday afternoon.

It was an even game early on before Willis Plaza headed East Bengal ahead in the 27th minute following a Mohammed Rafique corner. It stayed 1-0 at the break.

After the breather Willis Plaza completed his hattrick with goals in the 50th and 63rd minutes, both individual efforts, which his coach Khalid Jamil and club have been expecting from him throughout the CFL.

East Bengal enhanced their lead through two more quick goals from Nikhil Poojary in the 82nd minute and Laldanmawia Ralte in the 84th minute to make it 5-0.

Tollygunge Agragami in injury time reduced themselves to 10 men when midfielder Gautam Kujur was send off for a second yellow booking for a foul on Joby Justin.

East Bengal after their latest win are now back on top of the CFL table with 22 points from eight matches, the same as their archrivals Mohun Bagan, but with a better goal difference.

This means that the Kolkata derby on Sunday, September 24 will decide the CFL 2017 title race. A win or draw would allow East Bengal to retain the title, while a win for Mohun Bagan would stop the seven season championship winning run of the red and gold.
