Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Wolves Academy & NXTLVL link up!

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Wolves Academy and NXTLVL Training Facility have joined forces to expand the club’s global exposure and create opportunities for young talents in Toronto.

The partnership is the sixth under Wolves Academy’s belt, having worked with Arkansas Wolves, Chicago City Soccer Club and TUSOS & Playmakers in the USA, Balderstone in South Africa and Sportslink in Tanzania.

NXTLVL began in 2021 and provide indoor and outdoor facilities and opportunities in the game for youngsters in Canada, offering the best opportunities to succeed, and now they’re providing Wolves with the chance to broaden their interest in North America.

The partnership will see Wolves execute various activities over the coming years, including holding talent ID camps, laying on education workshops for coaches and hosting a touring group to the UK at Compton Park.

Wolves staff will head to Canada in the summer to deliver ID camps, where the club’s coaching philosophy used at Compton Park will be re-laid across the globe for Toronto youngsters.

Later in the summer, NXTLVL will make the return trip to Wolverhampton, where the talents will train at the club’s training ground, tour Compton Park and Molineux’s facilities and watch Wolves’ first-team in action.

Joe Hunt, Wolves’ international projects manager, said: “With the success of our work in Illinois through Chicago City Soccer club and Phoenix with TUSOS & Playmakers, we are excited to add NXTLVL to our partnership programme. Our North American expansion is gathering pace and we’re delighted to welcome them to the pack.

“Michelle and Gary are really passionate about developing players in Canada and giving them the best chance to succeed. We will be supporting them with our staff flying to Toronto to conduct ID camps but to also work with NXTLVL staff to share best practice.

“Our incredible coaching team at the club are excited to show how we work in Wolverhampton and hopefully help Michelle and Gary with their passion of developing players. It’s an exciting time with our international programme, there’s a full summer of activities planned.”

Michelle McIlkenny, manager and co-owner of NXTLVL, said: “We’re thrilled to be working in partnership with Wolves Academy in the UK. We hope this will help bridge the gap between the level of excellence in high performance youth players in the Greater Toronto Area and the calibre of youth player across the pond. We are committed to providing an alternative pathway to our local top talent.”
