Wrexham AFC alongside Macron & STŌK COLD BREW to feature at Super Bowl!

On the night of Sunday, February 11, the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will take America’s biggest football stage at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada. An event that, over the years, has crossed the US borders, establishing itself as one of the most eagerly awaited sporting events of all and becoming a show watched by millions of people across the world. A global visibility that will involve not only the protagonists on the field but also one of Macron’s partner teams, as Wrexham AFC will be the protagonist of the commercial created by STōK Cold Brew for this event.

Over the years, the interest generated by the annual Big Game has fuelled a real competition among brands to come up with more and more creative and spectacular commercials during the breaks from the game. STōK Cold Brew, the official stadium sponsor of Wrexham AFC, decided to focus its promotional video on the Welsh club.

The protagonist of the commercial is two-time Academy Award winner Sir Anthony Hopkins, who in the video prepares himself with great intensity and transport to enter the part he will have to play, but which in the end will turn out to be that of Wrexham’s mascot, the Wrex the Dragon. Wearing the Welsh club’s Home 2023/24 jersey, the mascot incites the fans and then, at halftime, Sir Anthony Hopkins sips his cold brew and explains how it is ‘the cold brew that births the fire-breathing dragon’.

“It is indeed a great thrill to see the Macron Hero in a commercial shown in the Big Game, one of the most important events in the world” said Angelo Marino, Macron Communications Director. “For this we can only be grateful and thank our partner Wrexham AFC and, especially, STōK Cold Brew for the prestigious and original idea that has somehow involved us. Macron is a continuously growing company whose brand is recognised and appreciated and whose credibility is built on its obsession for quality and product innovation. All this allows us to meet the needs of an increasingly wide range of prestigious teams and partners, such as Wrexham AFC, thanks to whom we were represented on such a prestigious stage.”

“STōK Cold Brew is using its debut at the Big Game to bring a different type of football to America’s biggest football stage. There’s truly no better way to celebrate the brand’s love of bold moves,” said Brittney Polka, Vice President of STōK Cold Brew. “STōK is a huge supporter of all things Wrexham AFC, and I’m thrilled that we were able to include fun nods to other Club partners throughout the video, including Macron. In case you missed it, the line above the “o” in STōK is… you guessed it…a macron. No coincidence there!”

Wrexham AFC, the oldest club in Wales and the third oldest in the world, holds the record for the most Welsh Cup victories, 23, and boasts three FA Cup quarter-finals and a Cup Winners’ Cup quarter-final in its palmares. In 2021, stewardship was taken over by Co-Chairmen Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, and in 2023, it won historic promotion to League Two, in which it currently occupies a brilliant fourth place in the table. The recent huge success generated by the club is due to the sports docuseries ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, now in its second season and already confirmed for a third, which follows the team’s sporting fortunes since the arrival of the new owners, alternating with an account of life in the Welsh town.

A winning journey in which Macron is happy to participate, accompanying the Welsh club on this new media ‘adventure’ on Game Day.
