The All India Football Federation President Praful Patel congratulated Bengaluru FC on their second I-League triumph in three years. Bengaluru FC defeated Salgaocar FC 2-0 on Sunday (April 17) to emerge Champions with a match to spare.
From his Official Twitter handle @praful_patel tweeted: ‘Congratulations to @bengalurufc on emerging Hero I-League champions. Well played!’
This is Bengaluru FC’s second I-League title in three years. They had won their maiden title in their first year, only to finish runners-up to Mohun Bagan in the next year (2014/15).
AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das also congratulated Bengaluru FC on winning the I-League.
“Congratulations! Winning the title with a match to spare is creditable indeed. It reflects the confidence and the camaraderie both on and off the field,” he told AIFF Media.
“I congratulate every Player, Coaching and support staff. Enjoy the moment. Deserving Champions,” Mr. Das added.
