Former Bengaluru FC head coach Ashley Westwood is back in Indian football after being appointed head coach of I-League side RoundGlass Punjab FC ahead of the 2021/22 season.
Ashley Westwood, who has around 25 years of professional experience as a player, coach and technical director, is a UEFA Pro and AFC Pro License-holder and has worked with top football clubs in India like Bengaluru FC as head coach and ATK as their technical director.
Westwood guided Bengaluru FC in their I-League debut season in 2013/14 to lift the I-League title, then winning the Federation Cup trophy the next season before again
lifting the I-League title in the 2015/16 season.
On signing for RG Punjab FC, Westwood said, “With a passion for and proven track record in Indian football, I have found a club with the ambition and vision to match my own. I’m sure that working together with a desire and an ethic to obtain high standards, we can develop this club to match our common ambition. RGPFC has the desire and potential to become a leading club in Indian football and I’m excited to be a part of this journey.”
RoundGlass Sports, who had only last year taken over Minerva Punjab FC, and rebranded it to RoundGlass Punjab FC, are aiming to challenge for the I-League title in the 2021/22 season under the coaching of Ashley Westwood.
