CAF General Secretary & FIFPRO Africa President hold a constructive meeting in Cairo!

CAF together with FIFPRO Africa on Sunday, September 4, 2022 held a constructive meeting discussing key football matters in African football at CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

The meeting was attended by CAF General Secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba, Chief Operations Officer, Abi Ijasamni and FIFPRO Africa President Geremi Njitap, FIFPRO Africa General Secretary, Stephane Burchkalter and board members Thulaganyo Gaoshubelwe and Masaseng Kgosana.

CAF and FIFPRO Africa discussed, amongst other things, the CAF calendar, the wellbeing of players in Africa, the working bilateral relations between CAF and FIFPRO and the evolution of the situation in Africa.

Mosengo-Omba said: “I would like to thank the FIFPRO Africa leadership led by the President Geremi for a very progressive engagement. FIFPRO is an important stakeholder to CAF, we are one family and we have one objective of developing football in Africa. In our meeting, we discussed issues openly and frankly including the match calendar and matters affecting players well-being in Africa. We also made a detailed presentation of CAF plans going forward including the creation of the African Schools Championship and the Africa Super League.”

“We all agreed that we need to improve not only the standard of football in Africa but also ensure that footballers earn a good living from playing football to ensure that they can sustain themselves and their families.”

The two parties also agreed to improve the level of communication on matters of mutual interest.
