CAF Legends react to CAF Schools Football Championship Workshop Certificate Handover!

As part of growing football from the ground up at the ongoing CAF African Schools Football Championship in Durban, CAF organised a 5-Day workshop for referees, reporters as well as coaches for the youngsters attending the competition.

In a closing ceremony attended by CAF Legends at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Thursday, CAF Vice President, Souleiman Waberi alongside SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan handed over certificates to all participants of the various workshops organised by CAF.

This is what some of the CAF Legends had to say about the initiative:

Asamoah Gyan – Ghana

“Very important for the young ones who got their certificates today. It boosts them to work more and to achieve their dreams. As I said earlier, we didn’t get the opportunity that they have right now. They should be proud of themselves and I am also proud of them. What CAF is doing to support these kids is an amazing initiative. I would like to commend CAF for what they have done and those who have received their certificates. This is very important for us as Africans.”

Robert Kidiaba – DR Congo

“I am happy to be here and this was very important to take place while there is football happening at the stadium. CAF is really pushing football development and we need to applaud the work done. This programme is very important and it is the first time it happens in Africa. I am honoured to be a part of it and this is beautiful for young reporters, referees and coaches.”

Jean Sseninde – Uganda

“This is a start of a bright future for these youngsters thanks to the innovation by CAF. Now football is used to truly develop and capacitate youngsters to grow into future leaders on the continent. We truly applaud CAF for the initiative and believe in the results that will soon come from this initiative.”

Lucas Radebe – South Africa

“This is an amazing initiative by CAF and just goes to show how much they value the growth and development of football on the continent. These youngsters have a bright future in football and will grow into future leaders. Not everyone can be a footballers so it shows great vision from CAF that they are helping youngsters identify other career paths in football such as refereeing, reporting and coaching.”
