Canadian Premier League signs TELUS as multi-year partner!

The Canadian Premier League (CPL) today announced TELUS as the League’s Official and Exclusive Telecommunications, Digital Health and Home Security Partner through 2027.

As part of its multi-year partnership, TELUS will launch a “Team TELUS” initiative that aims to make soccer more accessible to young fans facing economic barriers to playing the game. Team TELUS will rally Canadians to support those in need by collecting gently used soccer equipment at select match days in all League markets and will re-distribute the items collected to underprivileged communities nationwide, helping to create opportunities for soccer participation in Canada while inspiring youth to reach their full potential through the sport.

TELUS also becomes Presenting Partner of Family Match Days, which it will host in all eight CPL markets. Family Match Days will include in-stadium activations and player meet and greets, with a goal of bringing families closer to their local soccer heroes while building excitement and growth of the sport across local communities.

“As a proudly Canadian, global technology company, we’re focused on connecting Canadians to the people and activities they’re passionate about, ultimately helping bring communities together and keeping them connected to what matters most,” said Patrick Barron, Vice President of Corporate Citizenship and Community Investment. “Leveraging the power of Canada’s largest and fastest growing sport in Canada and our unwavering commitment to creating long-lasting positive impacts in communities across the country, we are thrilled to be the premier partner of the Canadian Premier League and look forward to working together to drive positive social change on and off the pitch.”

TELUS’ iconic brand will also be featured on the front of fellow West Coast organization Pacific FC’s 2023 primary and alternate jerseys, which will be launched later today, as well as on the front of the club’s award-winning third kit, which was designed by local Coast Salish artist Maynard Johnny Jr. and honours the culture and history of the Indigenous communities on Vancouver Island. Pacific, the 2021 CPL Champion, will take to the field in its TELUS-branded jerseys beginning with the club’s season and home opener at Starlight Stadium in Langford, B.C. on Saturday, April 15.

“TELUS is not only a leading Canadian brand but an avid supporter of soccer in this country, and we are overjoyed to partner with such an iconic organization,” said Mark Noonan, Commissioner, Canadian Premier League and CEO, Canadian Soccer Business. “We look forward to seeing TELUS’ familiar logo on the field when Pacific FC plays, and we are even more excited that TELUS shares our belief that soccer can have a significant impact off the field as well.”

Headquartered in Vancouver, B.C., TELUS is a global technology company that has a long history of giving back and supporting charities across Canada. Last year alone, TELUS generously donated $125 million and 1.44 million volunteer hours, five per cent of its pre-tax profits, more than any company in Canada.
