Connected By Passion: PSV Eindhoven launch 2019/20 Home Kit by UMBRO!

UMBRO and Dutch Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven have revealed a 2019/20 home kit inspired by the passion, pride and unity of the club’s fan community.

The new home kit pays tribute to the community from which the team takes their strength. The design for the home strip was largely conceptualised following a round-table meeting with a group of PSV ‘superfans’ in January of last year.

Overwhelming feedback was that any home kit needs to embody the club’s proud heritage and tradition, for it is this that unites the fans, players and club staff. This focus-group wanted something that would be symbolic of PSV’s foundations, but at the same time is understated, and speaks directly to the people that know and love the club most.

The result. One letter and four numbers. D2243. An alphanumeric code that means little to anyone outside the PSV community, but one that means everything to those in it. D is a section, 22 is a row, and 43 is a seat number belonging to one Frits Philips; the man that started it all.

The remainder of the design is very much a new twist on the style that has been consistent since the beginning. A striped jersey, in the red and white of their North Brabant homelands, which now features a versatile placket neckline to accommodate wear in both high-performance and everyday situations. Both the club crest and that of Frits Philips’ now-global electronics company, stand proud in full-colour, on the chest and sleeve respectively.

Completing the kit are contrasting black shorts with vibrant white seam-panels, internal drawcords and an elasticated waistband, and lilac-hooped socks with ‘cool zone’ technology, and PSV lettering on the rear calf.
