Dejan Lovren is back at Olympique Lyonnais until 2025!

Olympique Lyonnais have announced the return of Croatian center-back and international defender Dejan Lovren, for two and a half seasons, until June 30, 2025.

With a very solid experience at the highest level, Dejan Lovren has all the characteristics desired by Laurent Blanc and the recruitment team, led by Bruno Cheyrou, to strengthen the defense.

Arriving at Olympique Lyonnais in January 2010 from Dinamo Zagreb, his youth club, Dejan Lovren played 102 matches with Olympique Lyonnais and scored 3 goals, and raised the Coupe de France in 2012 alongside Alexandre Lacazette.

In the summer of 2013, he joined Southampton FC before joining Liverpool FC a year later. In six seasons with the Reds and 185 matches played in all competitions (eight goals), Dejan Lovren emerged as a strong defender and won two major trophies: the English Premier League in 2020 and especially the UEFA Champions League in 2019.

These performances allowed him to become one of the leaders of the Croatian national team. Selected 78 times, Dejan Lovren shined especially during the last two FIFA World Cups: in Russia first (2018) where he plays the seven matches including the final lost against France, then in Qatar, playing six matches and finishing third in the competition.

Olympique Lyonnais is delighted with the arrival of Dejan Lovren who, from the beginning of this winter transfer market and in consultation with all the members of the club, brings all the experience Laurent Blanc wanted in the defensive sector.

Dejan Lovren said, “I am very happy to return to Olympique Lyonnais. It was the club that opened the doors to international football, and I will never forget it. I have many memories here, many connections as well, especially with President Jean Michel Aulas who has always supported me. I left Lyon in 2013 with regrets because I felt I had not shown everything. I want to prove to everyone what a player I really am.”
