Indian Super League franchise FC Pune City earlier today announced at a press conference that Spaniard Antonio Lopez Habas would their head coach in the upcoming ISL – Season 3.
“I’m very happy to be here, thank you. My philosophy is simple. We have to win. Have a consolidated group, have tactical discipline and be a family” said Habas.
Pune City have signed Habas with a lot of expectations as the side from Maharashtra have failed to qualify for the semifinals in the first couple of ISL seasons under Italian Colomba and Englishman Platt though spending heavily in the transfer market.
Habas meanwhile moves from the east to the west after two very successful seasons at Atlético de Kolkata with whom he won the inaugural ISL title and reached the semifinals last year. Habas also brings with him experience of having coached in South America and Africa besides his native Spain.
“We have to have a winning mentality. I have to convince the players immediately that we are going to win,” Habas also said about what change he wants to bring to the Stallions, which will be a tough and challenging task.
