FIFA Women’s World Rankings: India drop to 59th, USA retain top spot!

Earlier today the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking were released by the world football governing body and in the first rankings of 2022, India dropped four spots to 59th position behind Panama, but ahead of Croatia.

India have 1417 points, 11 less than last quarter and the drop into 12th position in the Asian (AFC) Women’s rankings.

The India Women just drew the opener against in the 2022 AFC Asian Women’s Cup at home before COVID-19 hit the squad and India had to leave the competition. The next matches are friendlies in the coming month.

In South Asia, India remain in top spot ahead of Nepal (102nd), Bangladesh (145th), Sri Lanka (150th), the Maldives (152nd) and Bhutan (169th) with Pakistan currently unranked.

There was a change in the top 5. The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup winners United States (2,104 pts) stay top spot ahead of Sweden (2,082 pts), with France (2,046 pts) and Germany (2,041 pts) switched spots, while the Netherlands (2.014 pts) complete the top five.
