From the Ocean to the Grass: adidas’ sustainable warm-up jersey for Germany’s ‘Die Mannschaft’!

Newcomer for Germany’s “Die Mannschaft”: Before the international match against Spain last Friday, Mats Hummels, Thomas Müller & Co. warmed for the first time in a DFB Pre-Match Jersey, which emerged from the cooperation of their kit partner adidas with “Parley for the Oceans”. The initiative is committed to protecting the oceans and has worked with adidas on several performance products on several occasions. Together, it aims to raise awareness of the critical state of the oceans.

The DFB Pre-Match Jerseys are made from Parley Ocean Plastic yarns and fibers made from recycled plastic waste. This garbage was collected on beaches and coastal areas of the Maldives before it could enter the sea. The shirts are not only moisture-wicking thanks to the adidas Climalite technology, they are also a novelty when it comes to design: black and white squares merge into one another on the front and create a strong contrast. At the collar and under the shoulders the jersey is covered in black.

The new DFB Pre-match Jersey is having its big debuts in the international matches of the German national football team against Spain and Brazil. Even before the matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia kick-off, “Die Mannschaft” will wear their new sustainable shirt.
