Goa Pro League: Sporting Goa travel south to take on Guardian Angel SC!

In a Super Sunday clash, action shifts to South Goa as Guardian Angel SC hosts Sporting Clube de Goa at Ambelim in a key Goa Pro League encounter. Sporting Goa is rooted at the top with 27 points from 11 outings while Guardian Angel SC are placed sixth with 16 points from nine matches played.

Speaking ahead of the clash Sporting Goa head coach Mateus Costa said, “We have worked hard to climb on top of the table, now we have to work even harder to maintain the spot. We cannot relax it’s a very competitive league.”

When asked about the performance of his players this season, Costa said, “The boys have been fantastic, if you see we have scored the second highest number of goals and conceded the least. I am sure if we had the statistics of chances created we would lead there too. So I can safely say that the team is doing well but it’s important that we continue the momentum. In a such long leagues consistency is the key.”

Sporting Goa will be hoping that their inform strikers Francis Dadzie and Victorino Fernandes are on target this Sunday. The Panjim side has also ripped dividends from the recent goal scoring form of their midfielder Cajetan Fernandes. Costa is expected to field a largely unchanged side tomorrow.

Costa also stressed on the need for better focus now. He said, “We need to be more focused now and try to increase the point difference at the top. As we proceed further the league will get tougher and every point gained at this time will make a huge difference.”
