Goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani signs for Mumbai FC ahead of I-League!

I-League side Mumbai FC today announced the addition of experienced goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani to their roster. The Goan comes with a plethora of experience as he has plied his trade for Dempo SC in the I-League since 2008, and FC Goa under Brazilian legend Zico’s tutelage in the Indian Super League.

The 27 year-old keeper also has major honours under his belt, being part of the I-League winning Dempo squad in 2009/10 and 2011/12. As a youngster, Kattimani apprenticed under Brazilian goalkeeper Rogerio Ramos and went on to represent India at both under-19 and under-23 levels besides having been in the India senior squad.

After signing with Mumbai FC, Kattimani said, “Playing for Mumbai FC is an amazing opportunity for me. Santosh Kashyap is a great coach and it will be fun playing in front of the Mumbaikars at the Cooperage.”

Santosh Kashyap was a happy gaffer after completing the signing, as he opined, “I am glad to have Laxmikant Kattimani on board for Mumbai FC. He comes with a lot of experience and is very confident in between the sticks. I have seen him play for Dempo and FC Goa and I am sure that his inclusion in the squad will benefit us in our I-League campaign.”

One should expect some tight defending and some gorgeous saves with Laxmikant Kattimani playing in goal for Mumbai FC. The versatile keeper will be sent straight into training with the current squad as Mumbai FC continue pre-season preparations ahead of an enticing I-League season which kicks of for them on January 8, 2017 with a Maha derby against DSK Shivajians FC.
