Hyderabad FC & FC Goa share the spoils at Bambolim!

Hyderabad FC managed to extend their unbeaten streak to five games after an exciting finish to their game against FC Goa at Bambolim on Saturday. The Gaurs move up to seventh in the league table with seven points on board while Hyderabad FC move back to second, with 11 points to their name.

Juan Ferrando’s men made a bright start to the game, pegging Hyderabad FC back for most parts of the first half. The likes of Airan Cabrera, Alberto Noguera and Devendra Murgaonkar linked up well to trouble the Hyderabad FC backline but Hyderabad slowly grew into the game and managed to create a few chances of their own.

By the end of the first half, though the hosts dominated possession, Manolo Marquez’s men managed to keep FC Goa from registering even a single shot on target, all the while testing Dheeraj Singh thrice. But neither team broke the deadlock in the first half, setting up a perfect second half to the Indian Super League clash.

Both teams came out of the break high on intent, pushing hard for a lead and it was Joel Chianese who converted the easiest of headers from close range to put Hyderabad FC a goal up in the 54th minute. The goal came from a superb run and cross from Nikhil Poojary, who registered his first assist of the season, to give Chianese his first goal of the season.

But FC Goa were in no mood to give up and less than 10 minutes later, managed to find an equalizer at the end of a well-worked move. Airan Cabrera was there to slot home into an empty net after the Hyderabad FC backline was drawn out of position from the left and the game was back in the balance.

The likes of Bart Ogbeche, Noguera, Edu Bedia, Aniket Jadhav and Javi Siverio had a couple of half-chances for either side, that they failed to convert. Both teams pushed for a winner right till the final whistle and Laxmikant Kattimani was called on to pull off a super save in stoppage time to keep the scores level till the final whistle.

It was a tough game in the midfield for both sides as the game saw as many as eight players pick up yellow cards. The likes of Joao Victor, Juanan, Poojary, Akash Mishra and Asish Rai were once again in fine form but Hyderabad remain winless over FC Goa, in five head-to-head clashes.

Hyderabad FC are back in action when they face SC East Bengal on Thursday, December 23 in a home game in Bambolim.
