Hyderabad FC get back to winning ways in style; beat Chennaiyin FC 3-1!

Hyderabad FC put on a strong performance to register their sixth Indian Super League victory this season as they beat Chennaiyin FC 3-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, in an early kick-off this Saturday.

Halicharan Narzary (65′), Chinglensana Konsham (74′) and Borja Herrera (86′) found the net for Hyderabad FC while Petar Sliskovic (78′) made it interesting for a while, with a smart header for the hosts.

The first half saw plenty of half-chances go begging as Joel Chianese, Mohammad Yasir and Bartholomew Ogbeche were not at their best. But it was Halicharan Narzary, who banged the crossbar just before the break, to finish off the best move of the half in the game that ended goalless.

Hyderabad FC were on the ascendancy, Chennaiyin FC were a constant threat, but only until Narzary found his range. The winger found himself free just outside the box and slotted in into the bottom right-corner with a thumping drive, to end Hyderabad FC’s 200+ minute goal drought in the league.

Sana came up with another banger doubling our lead just minutes after Ajith Kumar was sent off for a second yellow card offense, leaving Chennaiyin FC with just ten men. Sana’s left-foot volley was too hot for Debjit Majumder to handle and Hyderabad looked to be running away with the game.

Sliskovic pulled one back with ten minutes to play scoring from a super El Khayati cross but Hyderabad FC were determined to take all three points from the night and pushed high for a bigger lead.

It came when Borja Herrera unleashed a rocket from well outside the box. The substitute controlled a clearance well, took his time, and found the top corner, leaving too much for the hosts to do for the final minutes of the game.

Joao Victor, Hitesh Sharma and Odei Onaindia were strong and smart with their duties while Akash Mishra and Nikhil Poojary’s pace was a constant menace for Chennaiyin FC right till the end of the game.

Javi Siverio, Abdul Rabeeh and Sahil Tavora came off the bench to add further stability while Gurmeet Singh pulled out a couple of crucial saves, and was unlucky not to keep a clean sheet on the night.

It was a collective team effort from Hyderabad, that saw them bring back all three points from the trip to Chennai. This result takes them back to second in the league table, with 19 points from nine games.

Hyderabad FC are back in action when they take on East Bengal FC at the GMC Balayogi Athletic Stadium in Gachibowli, Hyderabad on Friday, December 9.
