India striker Jeje Lalpekhlua confirms return to Mohun Bagan for I-League!

Recently named ‘AIFF Player of the Year’ and India international striker Jeje Lalpekhlua has confirmed that he would return to former champions Mohun Bagan for 2016/17 I-League.

Jeje had a very successful 2016 in which he scored 32 goals in 43 appearances for Mohun Bagan, Chennaiyin FC and Team India across all played competitions.

But Jeje returns from Chennaiyin FC and the Indian Super League to Mohun Bagan and the I-League having had a rather mixed ISL-3 campaign much like his team.

Besides having had an offer from Mohun Bagan AC, the former Pune FC striker had lucrative offers from the green and maroon archrivals East Bengal Club and defending I-League champions Bengaluru FC but Jeje in the end decided to stay with the Mariners for another I-League campaign.

Last season Mohun Bagan and Jeje just about missed the defence of their I-League title from the 2014/15 season, but the Kolkata giants won the 2016 Federation Cup in which Jeje scored a record eight goals in five matches.
