Inter Milan extend Matteo Darmian contract until 2025!

FC Internazionale Milano have announced that conditions have been agreed for the extension of Matteo Darmian’s contract: the 1989-born defender will be with the Nerazzurri until June 30, 2025.

If the word “Darmian” existed in the dictionary, this is what it’d mean: “to adapt to every match situation and immediately become a hugely reliable presence, guaranteeing extraordinary performances”. His continuous growth has made him one of the pillars of the team, and he’ll continue to be a key figure in the coming years. Matteo Darmian and Inter, together until 2025. This contract extension is the natural consequence of three-and-a-half impressive seasons where he’s scored eight goals in 140 appearances. During this time, the defender has displayed unparalleled versatility while espousing Inter values and always performing to the highest level.

Ever since his Serie A debut with AC Milan as a 17-year-old, Darmian has constantly looked to improve, work on himself and make himself completely available to all the teams he’s played for. He first gained experience with Padova in Serie B, and then came spells at Palermo and, even more significantly, Torino. Through his fantastic displays for the Granata, he caught the eye of Manchester United, with him he won the FA Cup, Community Shield, League Cup and Europa League. He spent four unforgettable seasons in England before returning to Serie A after signing for Parma. All his hard work also led to a call-up for Italy, with whom he took part in the 2014 World Cup and 2016 European Championship and, more recently, achieved Euro 2024 qualification. To date, he’s scored twice in 41 appearances for his country.

He moved to Inter in 2020/21, a campaign where he made 33 appearances and contributed to the Nerazzurri’s Scudetto triumph, notably scoring two crucial goals against Cagliari and Verona. The following season saw him play 36 times and find the net twice. In 2022/23, meanwhile, he featured on 48 occasions and scored two goals, including the winner against Atalanta in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. In addition to playing as a wing-back, he’s often been deployed as part of the three-man backline, all the while displaying his experience, leadership qualities and confidence. Since joining the Nerazzurri, he’s not only won the Scudetto but also the Supercoppa Italiana (twice) and Coppa Italia (also twice).
