ISL-3: Mumbai City FC score 1-0 away win over FC Pune City in Maha derby!

fc-pune-city-mumbai-city-fcMaharashtra rivals, FC Pune City and Mumbai City FC, both kicked off their Indian Super League – Season 3 campaign with a Maha derby at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune with Matias Defederico scoring the lone goal winner for the visitors from Mumbai.

FC Pune City were without their new Spanish coach Antonio Habas on the bench as he will miss FCPC’s first four matches after being sanctioned for indecent behaviour last season, when he was still in-charge of Atletico de Kolkata.

It was the third goalless first session of ISL-3 since its star in a row despite the home side, FC Pune City, having numerous chances to score. Be it through Izumi Arata, Jonatan Lucca or Gustavo Oberman, with on all these occasions, Mumbai City FC goalkeeper Roberto Volpato Neto coming to his teams rescue.

The last chance of the first session went to the guests, but Krisztian Vadocz’s shot was blocked by Gouramangi Singh. It stayed goalless at the break.

Mumbai City were more in the game after the break and the winner came in the 69th minute as marquee Diego Forlan flicked the ball on to Matias Defederico and the Argentinians placed shot went past the outstretched hands of keeper Edel Bete.

FC Pune City directly after falling behind tried to equalise, but Jesus Tato’s numerous attempts were no problem for Roberto Volpato Neto, who in the end won the game for the visitors from Mumbai.
