My German home town football club, FC Remscheid and one of their archrivals Union Solingen faced each other in the Bergisch Land derby on Sunday after the Röntgenstadion in Remscheid. Both clubs have a lot of tradition, used to play in the 2.Bundesliga but nowadays play in the seventh division (Bezirksliga) in Germany.
The rivalry is still as strong as it used to be in 2.Bundesliga or Oberliga in the old days with violence breaking out before, during and after the match. I spoke for rs1tv with FCR general manager Michael Ickenstein afterwards.
