Israel’s Marco Balbul appointed new head coach of NorthEast United FC!

Indian Super League side NorthEast United FC have announced the appointment of Marco Balbul as their new head coach for the 2022/23 season.

55 year old Marco Balbul, born in Tirat Carmel in Israel, played for Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Tel Aviv in his playing days.

Marco Balbul started off as an assistant coach at Maccabi Haifa and Maccabi Netanya before taking up his first head coach position at Hapoel Be’er Sheva. Marco then returned to Maccabi Tel Aviv as assistant coach.

He then coached at Bnei Sakhnin and Maccabi Petah Tikva before joining Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade as an assistant coach. He then returned to Bnei Sakhnin before joining Thai side BEC Tero Sasana as assistant coach.

Marco then coached Maccabi Haifa, the Israel Under-21s and then returned to Maccabi Haifa before now moving to India.

Marco Balbul said, “I’m very happy to be a part of this club. I feel the love and support of the fans already. And I’m sure, together with them, we will achieve geat things this season.”

After the Indian Super League was forced to play two seasons in a bio bubble, NorthEast United FC now return to their home in Guwahati, which should be a bonus for Marco Balbul and his squad with the fans back at the grounds.
