Italy’s AC Milan sign Hakan Calhanoglu from Bayer Leverkusen!

Germany-born Turkish international Hakan Calhanoglu has signed for Italian giants AC Milan as their sixth summer signing after Mateo Musacchio, Franck Kessie, Ricardo Rodriguez, André Silva and Fabio Borini as manager Vincenzo Montella rebuilds his squad.

The player has penned a four-year contract through to June 2021 and wants to achieve the most possible after making the switch from Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the German Bundesliga.

Hakan Calhanoglu started his youth career at Karlsruher SC, making his senior team debut in 2011. Over the first two seasons, he made 55 appearances scoring 11 goals, attracting the attention of several big clubs. In the end, Hamburger SV signed the young Turkish talent, who in the 2013/14 season made 38 appearances and 11 goals. Not only goals, though, as Hakan has shown great vision and great skill with the ball.

Head coach Roger Schmidt of Bayer Leverkusen brought him to the west of Germany to lead the Bayer 04 midfield. In two and a half seasons he recorded 87 appearances with 20 goals in the Bundesliga and the German DFB Pokal.

Hakan Calhanoglu, who could have played for Germany, choose to play for Turkey and since 2013 has made 26 appearances with the 2016 European Championships in France his first international highlight.

Hakan Calhanoglu hasn’t played the last four months due to a FIFA suspension over a preliminary agreement he had signed and then called off with Trabzonspor in 2011.
