Leo Scienza joins 1.FC Heidenheim in the summer!

Leonardo Weschenfelder Scienza joins 1.FC Heidenheim in the summer. The 25-year-old will move from SSV Ulm 1846 Fußball to 1.FC Heidenheim 1846 at the beginning of the 2024/25 season. The versatile attacker has a contract with FCH until the summer of 2027.

“With Léo, we were able to win one of the great discoveries of this year’s third division season for our FCH and are firmly convinced that he has the potential to prove his extraordinary skills in the Bundesliga as well. He played a significant role in the success of his current team and now brings a new component to our attacking game,” said FCH Head of Sport Robert Strauss about the signing of Léo Scienza.

Born in Venâncio Aires (in the south of Brazil), Léo Scienza played exclusively at the amateur level in his youth, starting with the U20s of the Brazilian football club Chapecoense. After a year, the striker moved to Clube Esportivo Lajeadense in the U20s in January 2016 before deciding to play for the U19 team of Uruguayan sports club Defensor in January 2017. He then rejoined his former club Lejadense in Brazil and from there, within the 2018–19 season, moved to Fanna BK, in Sweden’s fifth-highest division at the time. At the age of 22, Scienza moved from Sweden to the Ruhr area to join Schalke 04’s second team in autumn 2020. After two years at the club, the Brazilian moved to 1.FC Magdeburg in the Bundesliga 2 for one season and then to SSV Ulm 1846 Fußball a year ago.

In the course of this season, the versatile attacker made 34 appearances in the third division. He scored twelve goals for his team and assisted another 15 goals. He was recently voted “Player of the Season” in the 3rd division by the coaches, captains and fans.

“When I was informed of FCH’s interest, I was very happy about it. As a player, you simply strive to constantly develop yourself both athletically and personally. With FCH, I want to prove myself on a new footballing level. Being able to play in the Bundesliga is something very special that I’m really looking forward to,” said the 25-year-old, who actually had a contract until June 30, 2025 in Ulm.
