Liverpool FC’s LFC International Academy to launch in Washington!

Liverpool FC have announced a new long-term agreement that will see an LFC International Academy launched in the state of Washington.

Young players aged four to 18 years old in Washington will now have the opportunity to learn to play ‘the Liverpool way’, receiving tutelage from LFC International Academy coaches who are in a unique position to share coaching principles that are at the centre of what is taught at the Reds’ Academy in Kirkby.

The LFC International Academy Washington will deliver a variety of activities through a year-round programme, with soccer camps and teams for all abilities, from recreational to elite.

By focusing on the Liverpool way values of ambition, commitment, dignity and unity, the programme aims to develop participants both on and off the pitch. Through expert, age-specific coaching sessions, the young players will work on technical skills, such as ball control, dribbling, passing and shooting, while also building their confidence and learning to work as part of a team.

Ian Rush, LFC legend and LFC International Academy ambassador, said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing LFC International Academy to Washington and to give young players in the region an opportunity to learn to play the Liverpool way. All of our global programmes aim to provide the very best LFC experience to players and this will be no different.”

“To achieve this, we will focus not only on player development but also coach education and development through our LFC coach accreditation and close liaison with the team here in Liverpool.”

Rory O’Connor, executive director of LFC IA Washington, said: “Joining LFC International Academy is a fantastic opportunity for our players, our coaches, and our community at large. The level of professionalism and organisation we have already encountered in this partnership speaks volumes.”

“To work with such a prestigious organisation and benefit from their curriculum and development processes means we will be better able to develop our young athletes, and that is what we are most excited about. To be a part of the storied LFC family, both stateside and globally, is an absolute honour.”
