Macron & Udinese Calcio team-up with Serie A for A+LOVE campaign!

Udinese Calcio has decided to support the Lega Serie A’s initiative ‘A+LOVE’ and display its commitment to equality, rights and inclusion with a special match day kit that the team will wear for the game against Lazio at Dacia Arena on Sunday, May 21. Organised with UNAR (National Anti-Discrimination Office), the ‘A+LOVE’ campaign will run during Matchday 36 of the 2022/23 Serie A season to celebrate the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia on May 17.

The special Udinese Calcio jersey is white with a V-neck collar, black-and-white edges, with a rainbow-coloured graphic running vertically down the centre. The same colours run around the sleeves, down the side of the shorts and the middle of the socks.

The inside neck label is customised with the colours and badge of the club, and the words “I PRIMI BIANCONERI D’ITALIA” (the first Black and Whites in Italy). Also present are the Macron logo and the words “Designed in Bologna”, certifying that the garment is designed and produced at Macron’s Bologna HQ. The Macron Hero is silicone printed on the right side of the chest, and the badge of Udinese Calcio on the left. Beneath the rear neckline is a sublimated print of the club’s motto “La Passione è la nostra Forza” (Passion is our Strength).

“In tune with the ESG sustainability ranking which places us as the top Italian club, we wanted to follow the path set out by the Lega Serie A with initiatives to protect equality and civil rights,” explained Udinese Calcio managing director Franco Collavino. “Thanks to our partnership with Macron, we will wear a special kit showing our commitment against all forms of discrimination. Udinese has, for many years, been an open and multicultural club – currently with players from 15 different countries – and is actively involved in the fight against racism and the promotion of equality. We wanted to show our commitment in a concrete manner to use the immense popularity of football to send out positive social messages.”

The message highlights Udinese and Macron’s commitment to social and civil issues, as certified by the recent Brand Finance Football Sustainability Index based on ESG parameters, which ranks Udinese as the most sustainable club in Italy and fourth most sustainable in the world.

As with the Udinese Home, Away and Third kits for both the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, the special kit is made using Eco Fabric (specifically, Eco Softlock with Eco Micromesh inserts), an environmentally sustainable material made 100% from recycling PET plastic bottles.
