Kolkata giants Mohammedan Sporting Club will be participating in the 2016 All India Kalinga Cup Football Championship in Cuttack, Odisha, which will be their last tournament of the 2015/16 season.
The former champions will start their campaign from quarterfinal round of the knockout competition on Sunday, May 22. The final will be played on Wednesday, May 25.
Apart from Mohammedan Sporting, two other teams from Kolkata, Kalighat Milan Sangha and Army XI will also feature in the Kalinga Cup, beside defending champions ONGC from Mumbai.
In the last edition of the competition, Mohammedan Sporting bow out following the quarterfinal round after losing 5-6 to Kalighat MS in sudden-death.
The Kalinga Cup, which used to be one of the most prestigious club competitions in the country, is hosted by the Sports & Youth Services Department of the Odisha Government collaborating with the Football Association of Odisha every year. All the matches of the tournament will be played at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.
