In an action-packed Indian Super League showdown at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur FC faced off against Mohun Bagan Super Giant. The encounter between these two teams kept fans on the edge of their seats. In the end, a 10-men Jamshedpur FC faced a narrow 2-3 defeat at the hands of the Mariners.
The match began with both teams showing their mettle. It didn’t take long for the home side to seize the initiative when Mohammed Sanan capitalized on a defending error from Subhasish Bose and unleashed a sensational long-range shot that found the back of the net, giving Jamshedpur FC a lead within the first few minutes of the game.
Jamshedpur FC continued to apply pressure, attempting to extend their advantage with Sanan, Chima and Stevanovic at the center of all attacks. However, Mohun Bagan Super Giant demonstrated their resilience and determination, fighting back to equalize. Armando Sadiku displayed his prowess by slotting the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal after a well-executed play with Manvir Singh.
The first half ended with the teams level at 1-1, and the anticipation of the crowd was palpable as the players headed into the dressing rooms.
The second half was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride, as both teams displayed their attacking prowess.
The match took an unexpected twist early on in the second half itself as The Mariners seized the advantage through Liston Colaco who scored a good goal to give his side the advantage. He expertly dispatched a right-footed shot from outside the box into the bottom left corner.
Elsinho came very close just minutes later to help Jamshedpur FC equalize from a well-worked corner, but Vishal Kaith made an immaculate save with his fingertips to deny the Brazilian defender.
As both sides tried to nestle for another goal, Jamshedpur FC’s goalkeeper TP Rehenesh was shown a red card by the referee putting Scott Cooper in a dilemma as he was forced to bring on Vishal Yadav for Mohammed Sanan.
Minutes later, Kiyan Nassiri capitalized on a fast break, finding the bottom right corner of the net with a precise right-footed shot to give Mohun Bagan SG a 3-1 lead.
But the drama didn’t end there. Jamshedpur FC introduced Steve Ambri in the dying minutes and he showed some moments of magic. First, he won a penalty after being tripped into the box, and he showed nerves of steel as he converted a penalty to reduce the deficit.
The forward came close again just minutes later with a spectacular effort hitting the crossbar to deny Jamshedpur FC the equalizer. In the meantime, even Semboi Haokip came close as he almost met the lively Imran Khan’s low-cross.
Mohun Bagan SG saw out the final few minutes nervously to take all three points home.
Jamshedpur FC now head into the international break with their next match away at FC Goa on November 27, and the next home match on December 1 as they host neighbours Odisha FC.
