New Hellas Verona kits by Macron celebrate Dante Alighieri’s timeless bond with the city!

In the year that marks the 700th anniversary of his death, Dante Alighieri is set to be commemorated up and down Italy. Verona has a special bond with the historic figure, who spent seven important years of his life in the city and was said to have a deep fondness for the place.

Hellas Verona and technical sponsor Macron have decided to pay tribute to Dante through the club’s new jerseys for the 2021/22 season. The poet wrote the majority of Paradise in Verona, with Canto 17 and Inferno in particular providing the inspiration for some of the detailing including in the Gialloblù’s new kits. The first kit released by Verona for the upcoming season is the 2021/22 home jersey.

The new home kit is blue with a knitted crewneck collar and yellow raglan sleeves with blue trim. The back of the neck features an effigy of Dante and the dates 1321 and 2021 on a blue background. And an embossed graphic adorns both the front and back of the jerseys, depicting the distinctive gates of the Scaliger Tombs (the funerary monument which is home to the Scaligeri family).

The Macron Hero logo is embroidered in yellow on the right breast, while the Hellas Verona crest appears over the heart on the left. The word VERONA is embroidered on the back of the neck in a tone-on-tone effect. On the inside of the back of the jerseys, at the bottom, is a heat-pressed graphic with the words “ch’in te avrà sì benigno riguardo” [it is he who will hold you in such gracious favour], which is taken from Canto 17 of Paradise.
