Odisha FC will take on Northeast United FC in the Super Cup semifinal later today, April 22 in Manjeri. Kick-off is scheduled at 7pm IST.
It has been a great run for Clifford Miranda’s side so far in the Super Cup as the Eastern Dragons remain unbeaten. Qualification for the semifinals came at the expense of Hyderabad FC for Odisha FC. Diego Mauricio and Victor Rodriguez helped secure a hard-fought comeback win in Manjeri that night.
Northeast United FC on other hand displayed strong performances back-to-back against Mumbai City FC and Churchill Brothers which helped Floyd Pinto’s side cement their spot in the semifinals.
Odisha FC head coach Clifford Miranda faced the media ahead of our game today and this is what he had to say, “We are looking forward to the challenge. They have one of the best strikers in Wilmar Jordan. He has scored six goals so far in the Hero Super Cup. We are wary of the threat they (NEUFC) possess and we will try our best to neutralize Wilamr’s impact on the game.”
On Diego Mauricio, Clifford said, “Diego is a good player. He creates chances, he scores goals and most importantly he feels for the club. But on the pitch, Mauricio and Jordan will not be in a direct battle. We cannot compare both of them.”
Clifford concluded by saying, “We are only focused on the semi-final. Nothing more than that.”
The two sides have faced each other on eight occasions in the ISL, with Odisha FC boasting five wins out of the remaining three. Clifford’s men will go all in tonight to make sure that they progress to the next stage of the competition.
The Hero Super Cup Semi-Final clash between Odisha FC and Northeast United FC will be broadcasted live on Sony Ten 2, Sony Ten 2 HD, and FanCode. Kick-off is scheduled at 7pm.
