Robert Elstone & Paul Barber to talk Club Brand Values at Soccerex Global Convention!

Soccerex have announced that Robert Elstone, CEO of Everton FC, and Paul Barber, CEO of Brighton and Hove Albion will be joining the discussion on ‘Maximising your clubs brand values’ at the Soccerex Global Convention from September 4-6 in Manchester.

They will be joining former Dutch goalkeeping legend and now CEO at AFC Ajax, Edwin Van Der Sar and Jaap Kalma who has worked for work at huge global brands such as Unilever and Ferrari and is currently responsible for the sponsorship and B2B sales at AC Milan. The panellists will be sharing their insight into their respective club’s values and how they have managed to utilise these from the playing side as well as from a business perspective.

Everton CEO Robert Elstone has overseen the biggest spend in one transfer window for Everton this summer with over £80million having been spent, mostly made possible by the sale of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United for £75million. This unprecedented spending by the club along with the return of Wayne Rooney, displays the upwards direction that the club is heading into while continuing to develop its very strong community ethos and positioning the club as a “family club”.

Robert has twice been a board director with Everton with his first stint coming in 2004 as deputy CEO and returning in 2008 on a temporary basis as CEO with the move being made permanent in 2009. During his two spells with the club he has overseen consistent top half finishes. For the last 15 years the club has flirted with Europa League football with one season ending with a place in the Champions League, this is partly testament to Robert’s work at the club.

Paul Barber joined the board of Brighton & Hove Albion FC as chief executive in June 2012 after working in the same role for the MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps FC. In his first season with Brighton, the club secured its highest league position for over 30 years, made the Championship play-offs, enjoyed the highest average attendances in its division, and signed its largest-ever shirt sponsorship agreement, a multi-year deal with American Express. Paul was named Overall CEO of the Year for England and Scotland, as well as Championship CEO of the Year, at the Football Industry Awards 2013, and won the Sports Executive of the Year at the 2016 International Stadium Business Awards. This year saw Brighton promoted to the Premier league, a new chapter in the club’s history with new challenges and expectations to fulfil.

The aforementioned experts will be contributing to a thought-provoking conference programme at the Soccerex Global Convention, designed to deliver unique business insight across a variety of football’s key sectors from stadia design, sponsorship, international investment, the latest in wearable technology and the rise of influencer marketing.
