At its most recent meeting, the Executive Committee of DFL e.V. discussed the latest developments regarding the topic of 50+1 in detail.
The main reason for this is the ongoing investigation by the German Federal Cartel Office, which the DFL had requested, in order to strengthen the legal certainty of the rule. The DFL Executive Committee once again emphasises and expressly reaffirms its clear stance on 50+1 in German professional football:
“The 50+1 rule is a central and elementary component of the DFL e.V.’s statutes and applies to all members and bodies of the league association. Under the 50+1 rule, the respective independent parent club has a controlling position within the organisation. Such a structure is a key aspect for clubs competing in the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2. The DFL Executive Committee will continue to advocate for this rule to be protected and upheld.”
