Jamshedpur FC have always looked to youth as a way of getting results on the pitch, and what better way to have a production line of talent than having access to the famed Tata Football Academy (TFA).
The young players training at TFA are aware that they have a stepping stone towards the first team since starting out in the academy, and with the club constantly scouting the best talent, the possibilities are endless.
Players such as Nikhil Barla, Telem Singh, Phijam Vikash Singh and others have all made the step up to the first team this season, and are already benefiting from their heroic efforts at TFA.
This year, with the U15 trials now complete, TFA is ready to add more talent to its arsenal, and help more players from around the country find careers in the beautiful game.
Today, we take a look at one of the next future stars of the academy in James Thongmin Chongloi. The 14-year-old has been scouted at TFA as one of the few among the thousands who registered for trials, and is looking forward to his opportunity at the academy.
Coming from humble beginnings, James’ father is a farmer in Manipur while his mother is a homemaker, but were very clear that their son had the potential to do something big in football and believed in him enough to send him to Jamshedpur for TFA trials.
Their faith in their child paid off as James is now one of the top recruits in the U15 category and has his eyes set on an even higher stage.
“My family and especially my brother encouraged me to take up football,” James said.
“I heard about the TFA trial through social media from the JFC page and the experience at the trials was really good. I am so happy to get selected and one day hope that I can represent my country.”
The midfielder’s favourite International player is Neymar Jr but also looks at fellow Manipuri Boris Singh Thangjam from Jamshedpur FC as an inspiration to make it big in the game.
With the Men of Steel already established, youngsters like James are out to keep the boys of steel hot on their trails in the near future.
