In the days when all eyes are on Milan Fashion Week, football is also finding its place on the catwalks. In fact, the presentation event of the new Udinese Calcio “Third” shirt for the 2023-24 season took place in the Lombard capital, which has a very strong link with the world of fashion.
The graphic and stylistic project for the Friuli-based club’s third jersey is in fact the result of a collaboration between Udinese Calcio, Macron and Marcello Pipitone, an emerging fashion designer whose work is characterised by both a sustainable approach to fashion and an urban and street art style, which is perfectly suited to the world of sportswear. For Udinese Calcio, the encounter between the quality, technicality, modernity and sustainability of Macron fabrics and the design and aesthetics of the Milanese fashion designer, was the ideal combination for the creation of a new ‘Third’ with unique and exclusive graphics, moving away from the club’s symbolic colour tradition. Like the Home and Away versions, the new Third kit is also made of Eco Fabric, a polyester fabric made from 100% recycled plastic. A commitment to eco-sustainability that has characterised the partnership with the black and white club for years, and a philosophy that, on this occasion, finds an equally convinced and passionate partner in Marcello Pipitone.
Udinese’s new ‘Third’ has a crew-neck bordered by three stripes, white, black and yellow, the same colour combination present on the sleeve edges. The jersey features a black and white pattern designed by Marcello Pipitone and inspired by the movement and energy of the team and of its people. A graphic that unites different individuals creating a single body, a team. A will to move forward without looking back, to achieve the goal of improving the connection with teammates and the energy the group exudes. The pattern depicts people running, creating an extremely dynamic and impactful effect in which the colour yellow, present in the details and inserts, combines with the chromatic power of the contrast between black and white.
The backneck is customised, as in the Home and Away versions, with the colours and crest of the club, and the words ‘I PRIMI BIANCONERI D’ITALIA’ (‘Italy’s first black and white team’), together with the Macron logo and the words ‘Designed in Bologna’, which certifies that the graphic concept, devised in collaboration with Marcello Pipitone and the club, was elaborated and developed in the headquarters of the technical sponsor.
On the right chest, in yellow, the Macron logo and just below it Marcello Pipitone’s brand logo. On the left there is the Udinese Calcio logo. In the back bezel below the collar, in yellow, is embroidered the club’s motto “La Passione è la nostra ForzaPassion is our Strength”. The Third kit is completed with shorts that have the same exclusive graphics as the jersey, with upper border and drawstring in yellow. The yellow socks have a wide white band just below the upper edge, which is followed by two black bands with a white band in the middle. The jersey has a Slim Fit and the main fabric used is Eco Softlock with a panel of Eco Micromesh and Eco Mesh inserts that make the technical garment particularly light and highly breathable.
