VfL Bochum hold anti-racism workshop at partner school!

“Mix in” – this was the motto of the “International Weeks against Racism” that took place throughout Germany in the last two weeks. Together with the project “90 Minutes Against the Right”, VfL Bochum 1848 organised an anti-racism workshop for two classes of the Heinrich-Böll-Gesamtschule. The school is a VfL Bochum partner school in the Courage Network “School without Racism – School with Courage”.

One in five is one too many! According to a study by the German Centre for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM), every fifth person in Germany has experienced racism at least once in their life. The workshop held aimed to educate the pupils about racism and to sensitise them to anti-racism and civil courage.

In the school network “School without Racism – School with Courage”, VfL Bochum sponsors seven schools in the region. The VfL Bochum would like to strengthen the networking among the participating schools and carry out ongoing joint actions to combat all forms of discrimination. The pupils should be encouraged at an early stage to understand discrimination in all its facets and to stand up for more civil courage and a diverse coexistence in everyday life.

Because both on and off the pitch, the following applies at VfL: racism, anti-Semitism, discrimination and exclusion have no place at VfL Bochum 1848. The BOCHUMER GEMEINSCHAFT stands for equality, solidarity, tolerance and fair play.
